On 6 June 1944, 71 years ago today, the Allies invaded the beaches of Normandy, France during World War II. D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history, where thousands of men lost their lives. I recently visited the American sector of the Normandy invasion – a humbling, yet inspiring, experience and one that I will never forget. I would like to share with you some snapshots from our visit to Omaha Beach, Longues sur Mer, the American Cemetery and Pointe du Hoc. The weather was dreary on the day we visited the sites, which only seemed appropriate for such an emotional and heart-wrenching remembrance of those who gave their lives for our freedom.
